Visitors to the Charlottesville area every October expect to see the leaves on the trees and vines turning to brilliant shades of red, gold, orange and yellow. But this year, due to a prolonged hot and dry spell, the foliage only recently started changing color. After this past weekend’s 2.3 inches of rain, however, and falling temperatures, the leaves should hasten their fall makeover, and remain quite beautiful through mid-late November.
To optimize your enjoyment of leaf-peeking in our area, we recommend you visit a nearby winery, such as Barboursville (shown in the picture above), or a mountaintop orchard, such as Carter Mountain, that sells hard cider. Take along a picnic lunch, purchase a glass of wine or cider, and sit outside and enjoy the views. If you need a place to spend the night (especially a B&B with comfy beds that serves a great breakfast), call us at 434-979-3593 for a recommendation!
