If you are planning to be in Charlottesville later this month, and you like local craft beers, you’ll want to attend the Know Good Beer SiBEERian Express Festival on January 28th. Held at the IX Art Park (5 minutes from the Inn), it features dozens of Virginia-made beers, great food and live music by local bands. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will go to Red Shoe Cville and the Charlottesville Ronald McDonald House. If you’re like Thomas Jefferson and “cannot live without books” or you’re a budding writer, you’ll want to take in the annual Virginia Festival of the Book, March 22nd – 26th, at various in-town locations (5 minutes from the Inn). Some headliners: Crime novelists Megan Abbott (You Will Know Me), Bill Beverly (Dodgers), and John Hart (Redemption Road) will discuss their award-winning works; and Poet Kwame Alexander and Illustrator Ekua Holmes will talk about their upcoming book Out of Wonder.
Later in the year, Charlottesville will host the Tom Tom Founders’ Festival (April), the Look3 Festival of the Photograph (June/TBD), and the 30th Annual Virginia Film Festival (November). Come and celebrate creativity at these great events.
