The Monroe Room
The Monroe Room, named for our fifth U.S. President and close friend and neighbor of President Jefferson, is located on the second floor of the Inn, across the stairwell from the Washington Room. This quiet room features a queen-size bed with a beautifully carved Victorian headboard and soothing bed linens, reminiscent of the Victorian era. The floral Oriental rug and drapes echo the Victorian sensibility of the décor.
The room also displays a matching chest of drawers and a side table, both with elegant marble tops. A cozy settee accents a lovely wood-burning fireplace (used seasonally), where guests can sit, relax and enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon. The Monroe Room offers guests a spectacular view of the rolling grounds and Carter Mountain, and toward Monroe’s Virginia home, Ash Lawn-Highland.
Sometimes, on a quiet day at the Inn at Monticello, you can hear the peacocks calling at Ashlawn. This room has a private, renovated bath with a newly tiled walk-in shower.
