A charming country manor house built in the mid-1800's, the Inn at Monticello sits cradled in the valley at the foot of Thomas Jefferson's own Monticello Mountain. We look out across the sweep of manicured lawn toward the beauty of the mountains, and listen to the peaceful sounds of birds and our own babbling brook. Inside, we offer five bedrooms, each with it's own private bath. Our rooms are uniquely decorated with period antiques and fine reproductions. All are coordinated with the elegance and comforts befitting a romantic country inn.

Our guests find the Inn at Monticello a quiet place to relax and enjoy a day or two away from their fast paced lives. In the winter the fireplaces offer soothing places to read a book, relax with tea or coffee, or just unwind. The summer finds most guests on the porch, relaxed in a rocking chair enjoying a cool drink while rocking away the cares of the day. Some enjoy a walk to picturesque Willow Lake adjacent to the Inn, or a game of croquet or bocce. Enjoy a taste of a featured Virginia wine as you peruse the collection of menus from the many outstanding restaurants in the Charlottesville area. In short, make yourself at home.

Guest Rooms


Lilac Room

A private porch can be enjoyed just off of the Lilac room which includes a queen size canopy bed. The room is decorated in a relaxing periwinkle blue with a variety of fabrics which add to the romantic feeling of the room.

Jefferson Room
The Jefferson room is a tribute to Thomas Jefferson. The room has a queen size canopy bed and overlooks a private garden. The room has a sitting area with a small library of Jefferson and family memorabilia.

Guest Rooms


Blue Room

The Blue Room is the original master bedroom complete with wood burning fireplace, four poster queen size bed and views of Willow Lake and the rolling front lawn. The room has the warmth and charm of early America. The colors of brick, blue and white add to the feeling of history associated with the surrounding area.

Green Room
A Victorian motif is found in the Green room. The high carved headboard of the antique queen size bed with the matching bed set dates to the late 1800's. The small sitting area accents the wood burning fireplace and offers the elegance of years gone by.

Yellow Room
The Yellow bedroom is a cheerful room full of sunlight and the feeling of warmth even on a cold winter's day. The feather soft king size bed with floral accessories , the white balloon shades, and the mellow warm color creates a beautiful romantic get-away. Twin beds are available in the yellow room upon request.

Breakfast
Wake up to the heady aroma a freshly brewed coffee, and enjoy a cup as you await the lavish gourmet breakfast each morning. Every breakfast includes fruit and juice, home baked breads and muffins, jams, jellies, coffee, tea and of course the ever changing menu of delicious entrees.
Guest Information
  • Bed and Breakfast $125.00 to $150.00, based on double occupancy. Deduct $25.00 for single person; add $25.00 for rollaway and third person. Sales tax and occupancy tax equals 9.5%.
  • Payment can be made in the form of a check, travelers check or credit card. The amount of the deposit will depend on the length of stay and time of year. Your deposit will be refunded if cancellations are made 10 days prior to arrival. We are sorry, but due to our limited number of rooms and cost incurred by the Inn in advance preparation of your visit, we are unable to return any portion of your deposit when cancellations are made less than 10 days in advance of your reservation date.
  • We do require a two-night minimum stay on weekends and holidays.
  • We have two cats in residence who prefer not to share their home with other pets, therefore we cannot accept pets.
  • We gladly accept children over 12
  • With advance information we will accommodate special dietary needs.
  • We are pleased to offer you central air conditioning and a smoke free environment.
  • Guest check in is between 4 and 7 p.m. Check out is by 11 a.m.
