“Cultivators of the earth are the most virtuous and independent citizens.” — Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, c. 1781
Spring is here and the crocuses, daffodils and forsythia are bursting forth in bloom. In tribute to its agricultural heritage, and the natural beauty of its land, Virginia celebrates Historic Garden Week from April 16 – 23. In Albemarle County, visitors may tour homes and gardens in the Farmington area, the Morven Estate and grounds, and of course, Monticello and Ashlawn Highland. We still have a few rooms available during this time at the Inn at Monticello, so stay with us while you enjoy the beauty and bounty of our area.
